b. Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how the App is accessed and used (“Usage Data”). This Usage Data may include:
- Your device’s Internet Protocol (IP) address.

The information we collect is used for various purposes, primarily to provide, maintain, and improve the My Hope App:
- To create and manage your user account, allowing you to access and utilize the App’s features.
- To provide core App functionality, including securely storing your hopes and displaying them as per your privacy settings (private or public).
- To understand usage patterns through analytics, helping us to continually improve the user experience, optimize features, and develop new functionalities.
- To ensure the safety, moderation, and integrity of public hopes, maintaining a positive and respectful community environment.

How Your Hopes Are Protected & Managed
We prioritize the security and privacy of your sensitive hope entries:
- Encryption: All hope entries, including text and media, are encrypted before being saved to our Firebase Firestore database. This ensures that your content is protected both in transit and at rest.
- Visibility Control: You retain full control over the visibility of your hopes. By default, all newly created hopes are private. You explicitly choose whether to mark a hope as public.
- Public Hope Verification: Hopes marked as public undergo a verification and moderation process before they appear on the public feed. This is to ensure adherence to our Community Guidelines and to maintain a safe and supportive environment for all users.
Sharing & Disclosure of Your Information
We’re committed to maintaining your trust. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with advertisers or any third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We engage trusted third-party service providers to perform functions on our behalf and help us operate the App. These include:
- Firebase (Google LLC): For user authentication, database (Firestore) services, and secure media storage (Firebase Storage). Firebase’s own privacy policy (Google Cloud Privacy Notice) applies to its services.
- Amplitude, Inc.: For anonymized usage analytics. Amplitude helps us understand aggregate user behavior. Data shared with Amplitude is generally de-identified or aggregated where possible to protect your privacy.
- These third-party providers have access to your Personal Information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
